Michael Kosterman is a singer songwriter from Langley British Columbia Canada. His unique country rock sound evolved from the influences of some of the greatest artists of all time; The Eagles, Garth Brooks, Elvis Presley as well as many others. His voice is gritty and full of heartfelt soul and he is quickly becoming one of the more popular artists on social communities such as Myspace.
After several years of playing in bands Michael decided to break out on his own with his songs. In 2007 he began to find an audience world-wide on the internet. Now, two years later, with a fan base in the tens of thousands, Michael is focussing on live performances. 1. Do you write the songs yourself, and if not, how do you go about finding songs for your albums?
Answer: I write and sing my own songs. To this point I have never recorded a song written by anyone else. I consider song writing my greatest strength, and my biggest love. First and foremost, I am a songwriter.
2. What can your fans expect to see when they see you in concert?
Answer: When my fans see me in concert they can expect to hear the songs as they hear them in recordings. I don't believe in changing what it is they fell in love with. I put my heart and soul into every song I sing. They are my words, and I believe every one of them.
3. What did you do before you got into the music business?
Answer: I have done so many things in my past. I've been in the military. I've been a construction worker, an actor and even a truck driver. There's really too many to mention. I think that happens to a lot of artists who get forced to fit into society and get "real jobs", before they finally commit to the artist that they are, and are meant to be.
4. What's the best compliment a fan has ever given you?
Answer: A fan named Vickie in Cheboygan Michigan paid $1,500 in an auction for an old guitar and hat of mine. The fact that she put that much value on it, made me realise that people don't look at me as an ordinary guy anymore. Some, including Vickie, see me as a future star, and that is the biggest compliment a new artist can get.
